Keystone Summary

Keystone, Iowa is a small town located in the southwestern corner of the state, in the county of Harrison. It is situated on the banks of the Missouri River, and is home to a population of just over 500 people.

History

The area that is now Keystone was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was originally known as “Keystone Station”, and was a stop on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. The town was officially incorporated in 1876, and the name was changed to Keystone.

Geography

Keystone is located in the southwestern corner of Iowa, in Harrison County. It is situated on the banks of the Missouri River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town is located approximately 30 miles from the state capital of Des Moines.

Economy

The economy of Keystone is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, and the surrounding area is known for its production of corn, soybeans, and other crops. In addition, Keystone is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
