Keosauqua is a small town located in Van Buren County, Iowa, United States. It is situated on the Des Moines River, approximately 30 miles southeast of Ottumwa. The population was 1,039 at the 2010 census.

History

Keosauqua was founded in 1839 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the Native American word for "beautiful view," and was the first county seat of Van Buren County. The town was incorporated in 1847.
