History
Hazleton was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The city was named after Hazleton, Pennsylvania, the hometown of one of the settlers. The city was incorporated in 1872.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,539.2 people per square mile (595.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races.
