Garden Grove Summary

Garden Grove is a small city located in Decatur County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ottumwa, IA Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Garden Grove was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after a grove of trees that were planted in the area by the settlers. The town was incorporated in 1871.
Garden Grove was a major stop on the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad, which ran through the town from 1871 to 1883. The railroad brought many new settlers to the area, and the town grew rapidly.
In the late 19th century, Garden Grove was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several grain elevators, a creamery, a flour mill, and a lumber yard.

The town is also home to several manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer, a metal fabricator, and a machine shop.
