Fairbank Summary

Fairbank, Iowa is a small town located in Buchanan County, Iowa. It is situated on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River, and is part of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of 1,072 as of the 2010 census, and is the county seat of Buchanan County.

History

Fairbank was founded in 1855 by a group of German immigrants led by John Fairbank. The town was originally named Fairbank Station, and was the first settlement in Buchanan County. The town was officially incorporated in 1858, and the name was changed to Fairbank.
