Collins, Iowa is a small city located in the northwest corner of the state, in Story County. It is part of the Ames Metropolitan Statistical Area, and has a population of 1,845 as of the 2010 census. Collins is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Iowa Highway 210. It is situated on the western edge of Story County, and is bordered by the cities of Gilbert, Huxley, and Cambridge. The city is located in the Central Lowland region of the Midwest, and is characterized by rolling hills and flat plains. The city is located in the Des Moines River Valley, and is surrounded by agricultural land.

Economy

Collins is a small, rural community with a primarily agricultural-based economy. The city is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The city is also home to a number of manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer, a metal fabrication company, and a printing company. The city is also home to a number of farms, which produce corn, soybeans, and other crops.
