Coggon Summary

Coggon is a small city located in Delaware County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Coggon was founded in 1872 by William Coggon, a local farmer. The town was originally named Coggon Station, but the name was changed to Coggon in 1876. The town was incorporated in 1882.
Coggon was a major stop on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, which ran through the town from 1872 to 1980. The railroad was a major employer in the town, and it was also a major source of transportation for the area.
