History

Buffalo Center was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Buffalo, New York. The town was named after the nearby Buffalo Creek. The first post office was established in 1858. The town was incorporated in 1881.

The economy of Buffalo Center is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several grain elevators, a feed mill, and a fertilizer plant. The town also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,072 people, 441 households, and 287 families residing in the city. The population density was 972.7 people per square mile (375.3/km2). Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
