Arlington Summary

Arlington is a city located in Fayette County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fayette County.

History

Arlington was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the hometown of one of the settlers, Arlington, Ohio. The first post office was established in 1855.
In 1856, the first school was built in Arlington. The first church was built in 1858. The first newspaper, the Arlington Gazette, was established in 1859.
