Middleton Summary

Middleton, Tennessee is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, in Gibson County. It is situated on the banks of the Obion River, and is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

Middleton was founded in 1820 by a group of settlers from North Carolina. The town was named after the Middleton family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and tobacco. In the late 19th century, the town began to grow and develop, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving commercial center.
In the early 1900s, the town was home to several businesses, including a cotton gin, a sawmill, and a grist mill. The town also had a bank, a post office, and several churches. In the 1920s, the town was connected to the rest of the state by the Tennessee Central Railroad.

Geography

Middleton is located in the northwest corner of Tennessee, in Gibson County. It is situated on the banks of the Obion River, and is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. The town is located about 30 miles north of Jackson, and about 60 miles east of Memphis.
