Doyle Summary

Doyle is a small town located in the northern part of Tennessee, in the county of Clay. It is situated in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains, and is surrounded by the towns of Celina, Red Boiling Springs, and Moss. The population of Doyle was estimated to be around 1,000 people in 2020.

History

Doyle was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Celina. The town was named after the first settler, William Doyle, who was a prominent figure in the area. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and tobacco. The town also had a few small businesses, such as a general store, a blacksmith, and a post office.
In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and develop. The railroad was extended to Doyle in 1906, and this allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from the town. This helped to spur economic growth in the area, and the town began to attract more businesses and residents.
In the 1920s, the town began to experience a decline in population due to the Great Depression. However, the town was able to recover and by the 1950s, the population had grown to around 1,000 people.
