Falls City Summary
Falls City is a small city located in Polk County, Oregon, United States. It is situated on the banks of the Luckiamute River, about 10 miles (16 km) south of the county seat of Dallas. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.
History
Falls City was founded in 1851 by a group of settlers from the Willamette Valley. The town was named after the nearby waterfall on the Luckiamute River. The first post office was established in 1854.

There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $35,000, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,845. About 8.2% of families and 11.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.3% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
