Joliet is located at 45°51'25" North, 108°45'45" West (45.856944, -108.762500). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.
History
Joliet was founded in 1882 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The town was named after the French explorer Louis Joliet, who explored the area in the late 1600s. The town was originally a stop on the Northern Pacific Railroad, and it quickly grew into a small but prosperous community.
