Sylvan Grove is a small city located in Lincoln County, Kansas, United States. The population was 517 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Saline River, and is the county seat of Lincoln County.

History

Sylvan Grove was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the nearby grove of sycamore trees. The first post office was established in 1873. The town was incorporated in 1887.
In the early 1900s, Sylvan Grove was a thriving agricultural community. The town had a bank, a newspaper, a hotel, a blacksmith shop, a livery stable, and several other businesses. The town also had a school, a church, and a cemetery.

Sylvan Grove is located at 39°25'17" North, 98°17'45" West (39.4214, -98.2958). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.
