Solomon Summary

Solomon, Kansas is a small city located in the north-central part of the state, in the Solomon Valley. It is the county seat of Dickinson County, and is situated along the Solomon River. The city has a population of 1,845, according to the 2010 census.

History

Solomon was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Abilene. The town was named after the biblical King Solomon, and was originally intended to be a trading post for the area. The first post office was established in 1872, and the town was officially incorporated in 1873.
In the late 19th century, Solomon was a bustling center of commerce, with several stores, a hotel, a bank, and a newspaper. The town was also home to a number of churches, including the First Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1875.
