Quinter Summary

Quinter is a small city located in Gove County, Kansas, United States. It is situated in the northwest corner of the state, approximately 50 miles east of the Colorado border. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Quinter was founded in 1885 by the Union Pacific Railroad. The city was named after the Quinter family, who were early settlers in the area. The first post office was established in 1887.
In the early 1900s, Quinter was a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, a creamery, and a lumber yard. The city also had a hotel, a bank, a newspaper, and several churches.

Geography

Quinter is located at 38°45'25" North, 100°14'17" West (38.756944, -100.238333). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.

Economy
