Paxico Summary

Paxico is a small town located in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, United States. The population was estimated to be around 200 people in 2000. The town is located on the Kansas River, about 20 miles southwest of Topeka.

History

Paxico was founded in 1857 by a group of German immigrants. The town was named after the Pawnee Indian chief, Paxico. The town was originally a trading post for the Pawnee Indians and was known as "Paxico's Trading Post". The town was incorporated in 1872.
In the late 1800s, Paxico was a thriving community with a variety of businesses, including a hotel, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a livery stable, a saloon, a bank, and a post office. The town also had a school, a church, and a cemetery.
In the early 1900s, Paxico was a popular destination for tourists. The town was known for its beautiful scenery and its many recreational activities, such as fishing, hunting, and camping.

Geography

Paxico is located at 39°17'45" North, 96°14'45" West (39.295833, -96.245833). The town is situated on the Kansas River, about 20 miles southwest of Topeka. The town is located in Wabaunsee County, Kansas.
The total area of Paxico is 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The town has a total elevation of 890 feet above sea level.

Economy

The economy of Paxico is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay.
