Osage City Summary

Osage City, Kansas is a small town located in Osage County, Kansas. It is situated in the northeast corner of the state, about 30 miles south of Topeka. The population of Osage City was 1,845 in the 2010 census.

History

Osage City was founded in 1855 by a group of settlers from Osage County, Missouri. The town was named after the Osage Indians, who had lived in the area for centuries. The first post office was established in 1856.
In the late 19th century, Osage City was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, and a creamery. The town also had a number of stores, including a hardware store, a drug store, and a general store.
