Frankfort Summary

Frankfort, Kansas is a small town located in Marshall County, in the northeastern part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Big Blue River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town was founded in 1871, and has a population of just over 500 people.

History

Frankfort was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the city of Frankfurt, Germany, and was originally intended to be a German settlement. The settlers built a flour mill, a sawmill, and a general store, and the town quickly grew. By the early 1900s, Frankfort had become a thriving agricultural community, with a population of over 1,000 people.
