Conway Springs is a small city located in Sumner County, Kansas, United States. It is situated on the Arkansas River, approximately 25 miles south of Wichita. The population was 1,717 at the 2010 census.

History

Conway Springs was founded in 1887 by a group of settlers from Conway, Arkansas. The town was named after the Arkansas town, and the springs that were located nearby. The springs were a popular destination for travelers, and the town quickly grew.
In the early 1900s, the town was a major stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The railroad brought in new businesses and industries, and the town flourished.
In the 1920s, the town was home to a large oil refinery, which provided jobs for many of the town's residents. The refinery closed in the 1950s, but the town continued to grow.
