Cimarron Summary

Cimarron, Kansas is a small town located in Gray County in the southwestern part of the state. It is situated on the Arkansas River and is the county seat of Gray County. The town was founded in 1873 and was named after the Cimarron River, which flows through the area. The population of Cimarron was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Cimarron is located at 37°14'25" North, 100°45'25" West (37.240278, -100.756944). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
The town is located in the High Plains region of the Great Plains, and is surrounded by rolling hills and prairies. The Arkansas River flows through the town, and is a popular spot for fishing and other recreational activities.

Economy

The economy of Cimarron is largely based on agriculture and ranching. The town is home to several large farms and ranches, and the surrounding area is known for its cattle and wheat production. The town also has a small manufacturing sector, with several small businesses producing a variety of products.
The town is also home to a number of small retail stores, restaurants, and other businesses. The town is served by a branch of the Gray County Bank, and there are several other banks and financial institutions in the area.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,541.7 people per square mile (595.2/km2).
