History

Brewster was founded in 1887, and was named after the first postmaster, William Brewster. The town was originally a stop on the Santa Fe Trail, and was a popular destination for travelers. In the early 1900s, the town was a major center for the cattle industry, and was home to several large ranches. The town was also home to a number of businesses, including a hotel, a bank, a general store, and a blacksmith shop.
In the late 1950s, the town began to decline as the cattle industry moved away from the area. The population of Brewster decreased from a peak of over 500 in the 1950s to just over 200 in the 2000s.

Economy

The economy of Brewster is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several large farms, which produce wheat, corn, and other crops. The town is also home to a number of small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
