Arlington Summary

Arlington is a small city located in the northeastern corner of Kansas, in the county of Reno. It is situated on the banks of the Little Arkansas River, and is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The city has a population of 1,845 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Arlington was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The city was named after the town of Arlington, Ohio, which was the hometown of one of the settlers. The city was incorporated in 1872, and the first post office was established in 1873.
The city grew rapidly in the late 19th century, and by the early 20th century, it had become a major agricultural center. The city was also home to several manufacturing plants, including a flour mill, a brick factory, and a canning factory.
In the 1950s, the city began to decline as the manufacturing industry moved away. The city was hit hard by the Great Depression, and many of the businesses closed. However, the city has since seen a resurgence in recent years, with new businesses and industries moving into the area.
