Michigantown Summary

Michiganown, Indiana is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, in Clinton County. It is situated on the banks of the Wabash River, and is part of the Lafayette, Indiana metropolitan area. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

Michiganown was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Michigan. The town was originally known as Michiganville, but the name was changed to Michiganown in 1845. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. The town also had a sawmill, a gristmill, and a blacksmith shop.
In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and develop. The railroad came to town in 1887, and the town was incorporated in 1889. The town was also home to a number of businesses, including a general store, a hotel, a bank, and a post office.
