Colfax is a small town located in Benton County, Indiana. It is situated in the northwest corner of the state, approximately 30 miles from the Illinois border. The town was founded in 1837 and was named after Schuyler Colfax, the 17th Vice President of the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of Colfax was 1,845.
