Wales Summary
Wales is a village located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,945 at the 2010 census. Wales is located in the Town of Genesee, and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.
History
The area that is now Wales was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from Wales. The village was incorporated in 1892. The village was named after the settlers' homeland.

Economy
The economy of Wales is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The village is home to several small businesses, including a cheese factory, a bakery, and a winery.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,845 people, 1,072 households, and 809 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,288.2 people per square mile (497.2/km2). There were 1,098 housing units at an average density of 493.2 per square mile (190.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.90% White, 0.21% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.41% of the population.
There were 1,072 households, out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families. 21.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $60,000, and the median income for a family was $67,500. Males had a median income of $45,000 versus $30,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $25,000.
