Thiensville is a village located in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 3,235 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Thiensville was first settled in 1842 by German immigrants. The village was named after John Thien, who was the first settler in the area. Thien was a German immigrant who had come to the United States in 1837. He purchased land in the area in 1842 and built a log cabin.
In 1845, Thien built a sawmill and a gristmill on the Milwaukee River. This was the first industry in the area and it helped to attract more settlers. The village was officially incorporated in 1892.

Geography

Thiensville is located at 43°14′N 87°59′W (43.23, -87.98). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.

Thiensville is a small village with a population of just over 3,000 people. The village is home to a variety of businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services. The village is also home to a number of small manufacturing companies.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,235 people, 1,269 households, and 890 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,521.2 people per square mile (973.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.90% White, 0.37% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.68% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.09% of the population.
There were 1,269 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.
