History

Ridgeway was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the nearby ridge, which was a prominent feature of the landscape. The first settlers were mostly farmers, and the village quickly grew to include a post office, a school, a church, and a general store.
In the late 19th century, Ridgeway became a popular destination for tourists, who came to enjoy the area's natural beauty and outdoor activities. The village was also home to a number of small businesses, including a cheese factory, a creamery, and a sawmill.

The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.20.
