Ridgeland Summary

Ridgeland is a village located in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.

History

Ridgeland was first settled in 1854 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as "Ridgeville" and was later changed to "Ridgeland" in 1872. The village was incorporated in 1891.

Ridgeland's economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 431 households, and 294 families residing in the village. The population density was 902.2 people per square mile (348.7/km2). There were 454 housing units at an average density of 376.3 per square mile (145.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.45% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.73% from other races, and 1.45% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.45% of the population.
There were 431 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $48,750. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $22,500 for females.
