Rewey Summary

History

The small town of Rewey, Wisconsin is located in the southwestern corner of the state, in the county of Iowa. It is situated on the banks of the Pecatonica River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush farmland. The town was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from New York, who were looking for a place to call home. The town was originally called “New York Settlement”, but was later changed to Rewey, after the first settler, John Rewey.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the mid-1800s, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith, and a sawmill. The town also had a school, a post office, and a church.
In the late 1800s, the railroad came to Rewey, and the town began to grow rapidly. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the area, and the population of the town increased significantly. By the early 1900s, the town had become a bustling center of commerce and industry.
The town continued to grow and prosper throughout the 20th century, and by the year 2000, the population had reached 1,000. The town is still largely agricultural, but it also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
