Reedsburg, Wisconsin is a city located in Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 10,014 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sauk County. Reedsburg is located in the Baraboo River Valley, approximately 30 miles northwest of Madison, Wisconsin.

History

Reedsburg was founded in 1856 by William Reeds, a settler from New York. Reeds had purchased a large tract of land in the area and began to develop it for farming. The town was named after him and was incorporated in 1868.
Reedsburg was an important stop on the Chicago and North Western Railway, which ran through the city. The railroad brought many new settlers to the area and helped to spur the growth of the city.
In the late 19th century, Reedsburg was a major center for the lumber industry. The city was home to several sawmills and lumber yards, which provided employment for many of the city's residents.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.7% of the population.
There were 4,072 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.2% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 23.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.3 males.
