New Holstein Summary

New Holstein is a city located in Calumet County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,737 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

New Holstein was founded in 1848 by German immigrants from Holstein, Germany. The city was named after the German city of Holstein. The first settlers were mostly farmers and the city was known for its dairy industry. In 1871, the city was incorporated and the first mayor was elected.

Geography

New Holstein is located at 44°7′17″N 88°7′17″W (44.1214, -88.1214). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.45 square miles (6.34 km2), all of it land.

Economy
