Montfort Summary

Montfort is a village located in Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Platteville Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Montfort was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Montfort, Wisconsin. The settlers were led by John and Mary Montfort, who had moved to the area from their home in Wisconsin. The village was named after the Montforts, and the first post office was established in 1857.
