Mayville Summary
Mayville, Wisconsin is a small city located in Dodge County, Wisconsin. It is situated on the Rock River, about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The city has a population of 5,154 as of the 2010 census.
History
Mayville was founded in 1844 by a group of settlers from New York. The city was named after Mayville, New York, the hometown of the settlers. The city was incorporated in 1853.
In the late 19th century, Mayville was a major center for the production of cheese and butter. The city was also home to several breweries, including the Mayville Brewing Company, which was founded in 1867 and operated until the early 20th century.

Mayville is located at 43°30'N 88°37'W (43.500, -88.617). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all of it land.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.2% of the population.
There were 2,093 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.2% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $37,917, and the median income for a family was $45,938. Males had a median income of $32,917 versus $22,917 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,917. About 6.2% of families and 8.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
