Gresham Summary

Gresham is a small village located in Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Shawano-Gresham School District.

History

Gresham was founded in 1876 by a group of settlers from Germany. The village was named after Gresham, Oregon, which was named after the English statesman Sir Thomas Gresham. The first post office in Gresham was established in 1877.
In the early 1900s, Gresham was a thriving community with a variety of businesses, including a hotel, a bank, a creamery, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a livery stable. The village also had a school, a church, and a library.
