Granton Summary

Granton is a village located in Clark County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Granton was first settled in the late 1840s by German immigrants. The village was originally known as "New Berlin" and was later renamed "Granton" in honor of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. The village was officially incorporated in 1891.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 213 households, and 152 families residing in the village. The population density was 602.3 people per square mile (232.3/km2). There were 224 housing units at an average density of 246.3 per square mile (94.9/km2).
