Cleveland Summary
Cleveland is a village located in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Manitowoc, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
The area that is now Cleveland was first settled in 1848 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as "New Mecklenburg" and was later renamed "Cleveland" in 1856 after President Grover Cleveland. The village was incorporated in 1891.

Cleveland is home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a bank, a pharmacy, and a variety of restaurants. The village also has a public library and a post office.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile (594.2/km2). There were 745 housing units at an average density of 617.3 per square mile (238.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.7% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.1% from other races, and 0.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $45,000, and the median income for a family was $51,250. Males had a median income of $35,000 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,845.
