Cambria Summary

Cambria is a village located in Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Cambria is located at 43 25 17 North 89 25 17 West 43 4214 89 4214

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

History

Cambria was founded in 1854 by settlers from Cambria, New York. The village was named after the New York town. The first post office in Cambria was established in 1856.

The village was incorporated in 1891

Economy

Cambria is home to several businesses, including a cheese factory, a sawmill, and a feed mill. The village also has a small retail sector, with several small shops and restaurants.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 431 households, and 294 families residing in the village. The population density was 902.2 people per square mile (348.7/km2). There were 454 housing units at an average density of 376.3 per square mile (145.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.90% White, 0.09% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
