History
Boyceville was founded in 1856 by William Boyce, a lumberman from Maine. He purchased land in the area and built a sawmill, which became the center of the village. The village was originally known as Boyce's Mills, but the name was changed to Boyceville in 1872.
The village grew rapidly in the late 19th century, and by the early 20th century it had become a major center for the lumber industry in the region. The village was also home to a number of other businesses, including a creamery, a cheese factory, a flour mill, and a brickyard.

There were 441 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845.
