Arpin Summary

Arpin, Wisconsin is a small village located in Wood County, Wisconsin. It is situated on the Wisconsin River, approximately 10 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids. The village has a population of approximately 500 people and covers an area of 0.6 square miles.

History

Arpin was first settled in 1854 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “Arpin’s Landing” and was named after the Arpin family who owned the land. The village was officially incorporated in 1887.
In the early 1900s, Arpin was a thriving lumber town. The Wisconsin River was used to transport logs to sawmills in Wisconsin Rapids. The village also had a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.
In the 1950s, the lumber industry began to decline and the village’s economy shifted to agriculture. Today, Arpin is primarily a bedroom community for Wisconsin Rapids and the surrounding area.

Geography

Arpin is located in the Central Plain region of Wisconsin. The village is situated on the Wisconsin River, approximately 10 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the surrounding area. The village is surrounded by farmland and woodlands.
