Parkston Summary

History

Parkston, South Dakota is a small town located in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. It was founded in 1881 by a group of German immigrants who were looking for a place to settle and start a new life. The town was named after the first settler, John Parkston, who had come from Germany in 1879. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a trading center for the surrounding area.
The town grew steadily over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a bustling community with a population of over 1,000 people.
