Talala Summary

Talala is a small town located in the northeast corner of Rogers County, Oklahoma. It is situated on the banks of the Verdigris River, approximately 20 miles northeast of Tulsa. The town was founded in 1891 and was named after the nearby Talala Creek. The population of Talala was 1,072 at the 2010 census, an increase of 8.3% from the 2000 census.

History

The area around Talala was originally inhabited by the Osage and Cherokee tribes. The first settlers to the area were the Osage, who established a trading post near the Verdigris River in the early 1800s. The first white settlers to the area arrived in the late 1800s, and the town of Talala was officially established in 1891.
