Stringtown Summary

Strangetown, Oklahoma is a small town located in the southeastern part of the state. It is situated in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and is part of the Choctaw Nation. The town was founded in 1891 and has a population of approximately 1,000 people.

History

Strangetown was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from the Choctaw Nation. The town was named after a nearby creek, which was named after a Choctaw chief named Strangetown. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the timber industry. The timber industry was the main source of income for the town until the early 1900s when the oil industry began to take off. The town was also home to a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.
