Randlett Summary

Randlett is a small town located in Cotton County, Oklahoma. It is situated on the banks of the Washita River, about 10 miles south of the town of Walters. The population of Randlett was estimated to be 545 in the year 2000.

History

Randlett was founded in 1901 by the Choctaw Nation. The town was named after the Choctaw chief, Randlett. The town was originally a trading post and a stop on the Fort Smith and Western Railroad. In the early 1900s, the town was a thriving agricultural center, with cotton, corn, and wheat being the main crops.
In the 1920s, the town began to decline as the railroad was abandoned and the Great Depression hit. The population of Randlett dropped to just over 200 by the 1940s.
