Prague is a city located in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. The population was 2,386 at the 2010 census, an increase of 11.1 percent from 2,149 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Prague is located at 35°32'25" North, 96°45'45" West (35.540278, -96.762500). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all land.

Prague was founded in 1892 by Czech immigrants who had come to the area to farm. The town was named after the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague. The first post office was established in 1894. The town was incorporated in 1901.

Economy

The economy of Prague is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The city is home to several large manufacturing plants, including a Tyson Foods plant, a Cargill plant, and a ConAgra plant. The city also has a large agricultural sector, with many farms in the area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,149 people, 845 households, and 571 families residing in the city. The population density was 976.2 people per square mile (377.3/km2). There were 945 housing units at an average density of 431.2 per square mile (166.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 81.45% White, 0.56% African American, 11.90% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 4.37% from other races, and 1.54% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.90% of the population.
There were 845 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.

The per capita income for the city was $13,945.
