Lexington is located at 35°25'25" North, 97°25'25" West (35.423, -97.423). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.
History
The town of Lexington was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after Lexington, Kentucky, and was originally intended to be a farming community. The town was incorporated in 1901 and has remained relatively small since then.
Economy
The economy of Lexington is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms and ranches, as well as a few small businesses. The town also has a few restaurants and convenience stores.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,637.3 people per square mile (1,017.2/km2). There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
