Langley Summary

Langley is a small town located in Mayes County, Oklahoma. It is situated on the banks of the Grand River, approximately 20 miles east of Tulsa. The town was founded in 1891 and was named after the Langley family, who were early settlers in the area. The population of Langley was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

The area around Langley was first settled in the late 1800s by the Langley family, who were of English descent. The family had moved to the area from Arkansas and established a homestead on the banks of the Grand River. The town was officially founded in 1891 and was named after the Langley family.
In the early 1900s, Langley was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several cotton gins, a grist mill, and a sawmill. The town also had a post office, a bank, and several stores.
