Fairview Summary

History

The town of Fairview, Oklahoma is located in Major County in the northwest corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River and is the county seat of Major County. The town was founded in 1892 and was named after the nearby Fairview Ranch. The town was originally a trading post and was the first settlement in the area.
The town was officially incorporated in 1901 and the first mayor was J.W. Smith. The town quickly grew and by 1910, the population had grown to over 1,000 people.
