Havana Summary
Havana, North Dakota is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated in the Red River Valley, which is part of the Great Plains region of the United States. The town is located in Richland County, and is the county seat. As of the 2010 census, the population of Havana was just over 200 people.
History
Havana was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Norway. The town was named after the capital of Cuba, and was originally intended to be a trading post for the area. The town quickly grew, and by 1883 it had a population of over 500 people. The town was incorporated in 1884, and by the turn of the century it had become a thriving agricultural center.
