Moores Hill is a small town located in Dearborn County, Indiana, United States. The town is situated on the banks of the Ohio River, approximately 25 miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio. The population of Moores Hill was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

History

Moores Hill was founded in 1817 by William Moore, a Revolutionary War veteran. Moore purchased the land from the government and named the town after himself. The town was originally known as Moorestown, but the name was changed to Moores Hill in 1820.
The town was an important stop on the Underground Railroad, with many slaves escaping to freedom in Canada. In 1845, the town was the site of the first public school in Dearborn County.

Moores Hill is located at 39°7′17″N 84°59′45″W (39.1214, -84.9958). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.
